Overview
Theisen provides professional services in corporate finance and financial risk management to the international shipping and offshore oil and gas industries. Theisen was incorporated in 1989 and is authorised and regulated in the United Kingdom by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
The corporate finance division provides ship owners, investment firms and banks with investment advice, strategic financial planning services and debt and equity arranging. Theisen has advised and arranged on more than $16bn of shipping related finance.
The risk division provides banks, active in shipping finance with cutting edge credit risk assessment models approved by European bank regulators for capital allocation under BIS Basel III Advanced IRB. The stochastic models provide transaction PDs, LGDs and Risk Weights to calculate the required regulatory capital. Theisen has been involved in advising banks on their internal credit rating systems for over 10 years and its models are currently used to analyse more than $75bn of bank shipping debt.
The risk division also provides shipping debt investors with portfolio loss assessments and mapped credit rating agency grades and equity investors with probability weighted rates of return.
